Set a bad, bad example...

The other day I discovered what I believe to be my great-grandfather’s wand. How it survived The Looting I do not know – unless it didn’t want to be found until now, which is possible I suppose.
Anyway it’s an interesting piece. I’d guess it was forged around 1895 or so (great-grandad would’ve been thirteen at that time).
It’s a hefty thing, a full two feet in length, and definitely a left-handed model. It appears to be dark-stained maple, probably sugar maple as there was a sugar camp on the farm at the time. It has the pistol grip that was popular in the latter part of the 19th century, as well as the naturalistic style typical of the Art Nouveau period. It has an incised thumb rest and is inscribed with the elder Futhark rune Peorth.
It’s seen some hard use, which confirms some of the stories I’ve heard about great-grandad. Consequently it needs some TLC… does anyone know of a good wand wax?
