...work has been extremely busy, as it is time for the Semi-Annual Driver Performance Review, which means I get to review and update around a thousand drivers’ records in about two weeks. Hurrah.

In technical news, I have expanded my storage capacity by 120 gig with a new USB external hard drive. Now I can clean up the old PC and install XP for my darling wife (when I get some time, that is). AND I’ll be able to visit KaZaA more frequently. Any suggestions for new and exciting downloads?

And in the ongoing expansion of the mind of Prolix Footle, the Divine Mr. [livejournal.com profile] f00dave, he of experimental proclivities, has released a entirely new, extremely fascinating, container of worms by replying to Regular Reader Eddy. See his views on Life, the Universe and Everything! Most interesting.

When you said "driver review", I thought you meant software drivers. ;-)

What do you do, anyway? I'm guessing you're an office worker type for a branch of the government in whatever country you live in.

How's the speed on the USB HD? I recommend you look up "MST3K", and grab a couple of 5th season or later episodes, to see if you like the show....

And, finally, I'm not Divine in any sense, especially the dog-shit eating kind. Eww.

Well, you’re almost right. I am, in fact, a drone in the corporate structure (what is normally called an Administrative Assistant), although I can only wish it were government work. I actually work for a moderately large lumber retailer (200 stores in nine states, which would probably tell you my country of origin). I work in the Corporate Office, which is located, I believe, south-west of you, in a community (again, if I’m not mistaken) amazingly like yours. My job consists of what, in any normal company, would be portions of two totally dissimilar departments, namely, Loss Control (hence, the review of our delivery truck drivers) and HR/Benefits. I have been there thirteen years (it seems like an eternity, working my way up from the Mail Room, through Word Processing with a stint in the IT Department and Corporate Training. So, I am a thoroughly well-rounded peon.

The USB HD is not yet installed. I was waiting on a USB hub, which arrived yesterday, soooo... *hopefully* it will be up and running tomorrow. I’m not expecting miracles though – I don’t think my PC is going to support USB 2.0, but we’ll see. I’ll be sure to keep you updated. And I’ll try MST3K, although my taste runs more towards Monty Python and the Simpsons :)

As for the Divine, I wasn’t indicating that you were an overly large transvestite (:o (although you did admit you deviated from the norm…). It’s just my tendency to mete out nicknames. Would you prefer something else? Speak now or forever be the Divine Mr. f00…;)

How ‘bout you? I gather that you’re a Studious Academician and Socrates Café enthusiast. Any thing else? What puts Kraft Dinner on your table?

Sounds like a routine job. Does anything interesting ever happen? ;-) Peon is one of my favorite words. It's an insult, a term of endearment and a word of praise, all in one.

I, too, quite enjoy Monty Python and (some of) the Simpsons (though I'd rather watch South Park). MST3Ks are special. If you personally have ever *willingly and deliberately* rented a terrible movie, then you're the kind of person that would love MST3K. I suggest "Puma Man" as a good starter.

You can call me "Divine" if you want, I was making a self-depreciating remark, is all. Turning the praise around, so to speak. =)

Once upon a time, I would program for money. I still do, now and then, usually for 4- or 8-month stints. This last year, however, I've been a full-time Masters student. What puts KD on the table is usually my wrist, since Shan hates the stuff and I tend to eat it when she's not here. But as to what you *meant*, right now, a Big Fat Loan is putting KD on the table. I expect to become a professor or researcher in a few years....

I also used to have a billion different interests. Now I have a trillion, but can act on only five or so of them. Life tends to be that way. :-(
